Minister of Environment and Energy, Hon. Thoriq Ibrahim has presented the first copy of the Maldives’ Climate Change Policy Framework to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The booklet encompasses the Maldives’ concerns on various environmental issues, to be presented at the twenty-first session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) to be held from 30th November 2015 to 11th December 2015 in Paris, France.
At a meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, President Yameen and Minister Thoriq exchanged views on the environmental concerns in the Maldives, and discussed the measures being taken by the Government to overcome them.
Minister Thoriq briefed the President on the Maldives’ presentation at the COP21. He highlighted the remarkable achievements the Maldives has made during President Yameen’s administration in tackling climate change issues both at domestic and international levels.
