President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has on Tuesday evening presented the National Award for Special Achievement. The awards were conferred at the official Republic Day function held at Dharubaaruge.

The fifteen recipients of this year’s National Award for Special Achievement received a medal and a certificate.

Recipients who were conferred the medal for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework are:

1. Dr. Abdul Hannan Waheed
2. Dr. Mohamed Shainee
3. Dr. Raheema Abdul Raheem
4. Dr. Ali Najeeb

The six individuals who achieved the highest ranking position in a higher academic course or training course are:

1. Sub-inspector of Police Sultan Ahmed Bishar
2. Mr. Ibrahim Zuhair
3. Mr. Ghanim Hussain
4. Ms. Uzma Abdul Latheef
5. Ms. Aminath Shazra
6. Ms. Suhaida Ibrahim

President Yameen conferred the President’s Medal to Sergeant Hassan Saaid, for achieving the highest rank position in an international competition or exhibition.

The President’s Medal was also conferred to Dr. Aishath Elina, for innovation and creativity in resolving an issue in the Maldives, or outstanding performance in an academic research.

The recipients who achieved awards for the performance of a skill or innovation, to a standard recognised by the Government are:
1. Mr. Shabeeb Thaufeeg
2. Ms. Aminath Fazna Rasheed
3. Ms. Aminath Manike

At the function held this evening, President Yameen conferred the President’s Medal to 4 individuals for committing the Quran in its entirety to memory. The recipients in this category are:

1. Al-Hafizah Aminath Ahmed
2. Al-Hafizah Hawwa Didi
3. Al-Hafiza Fathimath Rahuwa Rasheed
4. Al-Hafiz Mohamed Shaf’aan Sulaiman

Recipients who were conferred the President’s Medal for achieving first place in the world top ten in the 2014 IGCSE and GCE O’level examinations are:
1. Sarah Ibrahim – Business Studies (Ahmadiyya International School)
2. Aminath Ibaa Mahreen – Computer Studies (Iskandhar School)
3. Fathimath Siba Saeed – Economics (S. Feydhoo School)
4. Maryam Zuha Saeed – English as a Second Language (Ahmadiyya International School)
5. Ghanishtha Bhatti – Sociology (Billabong High EPS International School)

Recipients who were conferred the President’s Medal for achieving first place in the world top ten in the 2015 A’level examinations are:

1. Afaa Jameel – Accounting (Addu High School)
2. Malha Mohamed Waheed – Accounting / Business Studies(Addu High School)
3. Aiman Ali – Accounting (Centre for Higher Secondary Education)
4. Mohamed Nazaal Ibrahim – Accounting / Mathematics (Centre for Higher Secondary Education)
5. Ahmed Shaaif Imad – Accounting (Centre for Higher Secondary Education)
6. Dhifla Mohamed Ismail – Accounting (Centre for Higher Secondary Education)
