President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to the King of Saudi Arabia, Al Malek Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the crane accident at Masjid al-Haram.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It is with deep shock and sadness that I learnt of the disastrous crane accident at Masjid al-Haram, causing the catastrophic loss of lives and grievous injury to many pilgrims.”
“At this time of distress, the Government and people of the Maldives join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy to all those involved in the tragedy. May Almighty Allah grant Jannat-ul Firdaus to those who have passed, and bestow His mercy and blessings amongst those who remain with us today.”
“Please also convey our sincerest condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
