President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has received Independence Day greetings from Heads of State and leaders of foreign countries.
Messages of felicitations have been sent by the President of China, H.E. Xi Jinping, the President of India, H.E. Pranab Mukherjee, His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay, and the President of Mexico, H.E. Enrique Peña Nieto.
“Great developments have been achieved since the Maldives’ 50 years of Independence. Since your Excellency assumed the office of President, the country is committed to the transition of economy and improving the livelihood of its people, which has achieved positive results. I am very glad and congratulate to it. I believe with the leadership of your Excellency, greater progress and development will be achieved in the future,” reads the message of felicitation from the President of China H.E. Xi Jinping.
In his message, President Pranab Mukherjee noted that this year marks the golden jubilee year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Maldives.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, I have great pleasure in extending my warm greetings and best wishes to you and to the friendly people of the Republic of Maldives on the occasion of your Independence Day and completion of fifty years as an Independent nation. This year also marks the golden jubilee year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. I am confident that the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation that exist between our two countries will continue to flourish in the years ahead”, said President Mukherjee in his message.
In his message, His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk conveyed “I take this opportunity to also express best wishes for your Excellency’s personal wellbeing and happiness, and for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Maldives”.
In the message sent by the Prime Minister of Bhutan, H.E. Tshering Tobgay expressed warmest felicitations to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the people of the Maldives on behalf of the Royal Government of Bhutan and on his own behalf, on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Maldivian Independence Day.
President of Mexico, H.E. Enrique Peña Nieto, in his message of felicitation, stated “I reiterate to you the firm commitment of my government in continuing to strengthen the dialogue and understanding between our countries. While wishing for the prosperity of the Maldivian society, I renew to your Excellency the assurances of my distinguished consideration”.
