The new Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria accredited to the Maldives, H.E. Petko Kolev Doykov, presented his letter of credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Sunday morning.

At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present credentials, President Yameen welcomed Ambassador Doykov to the Maldives, and congratulated the Ambassador on the commencement of his term.

Meeting the new Ambassador after the ceremonial presentation of credentials, President Yameen noted the good diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Bulgaria, and expressed his confidence that the two countries would further strengthen the existing relations during Ambassador Doykov’s tenure.

The Ambassador of Bulgaria assured the President of his commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral bonds between the two countries. He discussed with the President, areas in which Bulgaria could extend assistance to the Maldives in the future.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, and Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
