Ambassador of Iraq to the Maldives, Mr Kahtan Taha Khalaf, has paid a farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office on Sunday morning, President Yameen expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Khalaf for his invaluable efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the Maldives and Iraq, during his tenure.
Ambassador Khalaf stated that it has been an honour serving as the Ambassador of Iraq to the Maldives, and reassured the President, of the Iraq Government’s commitment to continue supporting and assisting the Maldives.
Discussions at the meeting were also focused on prospects for enhancing trade and economic ties between the Maldives and Iraq.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, and Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
