President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appointed a Board of Investments, as provisioned by the Special Economic Zone Act. The Committee will oversee important issues relating to the Special Economic Zones, including the granting and nullification of authority to establish these Zones.
President Yameen appointed the Minister of Tourism Hon. Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor as Chairman, and Minister of Economic Development Hon. Mohamed Saeed as Vice Chairman of the committee. Other members appointed to the committee are:
- Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Hon. Dr. Mohamed Shainee
- Minister of Environment and Energy Hon. Thoriq Ibrahim
- Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal
