Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that the Government accords its highest priority to meet the basic social needs of ‎the people. ‎The Vice President made this remark while speaking to the people of ‎Feeali island of North Nilandhe atoll, as part of his current tour of some islands in the atoll.‎

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Jameel underscored the Government endeavours to address the public grievances, with reference to the health care system of the country. In this regard, the Vice President noted that the Government has to date, spent an exorbitant amount of five hundred million rufiyaa on the ‘Husnuvaa Aasandha’ scheme, launched by the Government as part of its key electoral pledges to provide comprehensive medicare for the people.

In his speech, the Vice President expressed assurance that the Government will not discriminate against anyone based on their political affiliation, in providing the essential services.

As part of his current tour of the islands of North Nilandhe atoll, Vice President Jameel also visited the island of Nilandhoo on Friday morning, and met with the senior officials of the Faafu Atoll Hospital. During the meeting, the Vice President inquired about the challenges being faced by the hospital, and discussed the measures that could be undertaken to further improve the healthcare service delivery.

During this visit to Nilandhoo island, Vice President Jameel lead today's Friday prayers.
