President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has launched Thumburi – the Integrated Resort Project, the first initiative under the Government’s Guesthouse Island Project.
Speaking at the project launching held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel, President Yameen stated that this project will open up immense employment opportunities for the Maldivian youth, therefore, benefitting the whole community.
The President further noted that while this project is to be launched in Laamu atoll, the Government aims to initiate similar projects around the country. In this regard, President Yameen highlighted that the Government will prioritize business minded youth and interested women entrepreneurs in the development of this project.
In his speech, the President also emphasized that in order for the Maldivian economy to fully reap the benefits of such initiatives, political stability is integral.
