President Mohamed Nasheed has sent messages of felicitations to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousef Raza Gillani of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
In two separate messages to the President and the Prime Minister, President Nasheed extended warm greetings and sincere good wishes of the government and the people of the Maldives on the occasion to the people and the government of Pakistan.
He also expressed his confidence that the close relations of friendship and co-operation that existed between the Maldives and Pakistan would continue to strengthen in the years to come.
Pakistan became independent on 14 August 1947.
