President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Madam Fathimath Ibrahim have this afternoon arrived in New Delhi, India.
The President and First Lady were greeted on arrival at the New Delhi Airport, by India’s Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed, Foreign Secretary of India Sujatha Singh, Joint Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Maldivian High Commissioner accredited to India Mohamed Naseer, Maldivian High Commissioner’s spouse Maryam Nasheeda, senior officials at the Maldivian High Commission in Delhi, and senior officials of the Indian protocol.
The President’s visit to India is on the invitation of Indian President Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The official welcome ceremony for the President and First Lady will be held Thursday morning at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
