British High Commissioner Dr Peter Hayes has paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed today. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
Discussions were mainly on the current political situation of the Maldives.
At the meeting, the President said he was pleased that dialogue was underway between MDP and the opposition to resolve the issues that had led to deadlock.
He stressed that as a long term solution, the Constitution should be amended to rectify elements within it that led to political deadlock. He reiterated he was ready to give way for any elections that will ensue.
Dr Hayes said he was pleased to be reassured that an amicable solution could be found to solve the political issues.
Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed attended the meeting.
