President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that the government would put in every effort to improve the standard of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). The President made this remark while speaking to the senior officials, doctors, nurses and other staff during a visit to the hospital this afternoon.

The President said the main purpose of his visit was to inquire on the most pressing needs of the hospital, and to find ways to solve those issues.

The President also highlighted the budgetary challenges faced by the government, and assured the staff that he would put in every effort to address the difficulties being faced by them. In his speech, the President noted that IGMH and other regional hospitals do not function at its full capacity.

Vice President Mohamed Waheed Deen also spoke at the meeting. He informed of plans to constitute a committee consisting of staff representing the various departments of the hospital, to identify the immediate needs of the hospital. He also assured that the government would continue to find counter measures for the issues.

Minister of Health Dr Ahmed Jamsheed Mohamed also addressed the meeting, and highlighted the most urgent necessities of the hospital.
