President Dr Mohamed Waheed on Saturday, attended the prize giving ceremony of the 28th National Quran Competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President said that winners of Quran competitions conducted at the national level should be given the opportunity to recite Quran at different functions, and on local TV and Radio. The President made this remark while speaking at the awarding ceremony of the 28th National Quran Competition held this evening.

Noting the increase in number of those with exceptional talent of Quran recitation and memorizing, the President said only a few continue the use of this talent. He called on all concerned government authorities, media agencies, and the private sector to pay more attention on the issue.

In his speech, the President urged to provide more opportunities to the winners of the competition, especially in the upcoming month of Ramadan.

President Waheed noted that this year’s competition was also opened for special needs participants. He said the government gave special attention to provide opportunities for them.

In his speech, the President congratulated the four individuals who committed the Quran in its entirety to memory. He also congratulated all the winners in this year’s competition, and thanked all schools and institutions for taking part in the competition.

In his speech, the President noted the importance given by parents and guardians to instill in our children, good recitation of Quran, and memorizing Quran. He said that it strengthens our Islamic faith and increases love for Islam in our hearts.
