“Damaging public buildings is actually an attack on the people” - President Waheed

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that damaging public buildings was an attack on the people. The President made this remark while speaking to the people of Himmafushi of Male’ Atoll, as part of his visit to the island today.

Regarding the recent fire that burnt down the Himmafushi Island Council Office, the President said that it was a very serious matter, and conveyed his sympathies to the people of the island.

In his speech, the President said that burning down and destroying Island Council Office Buildings, Health Centers, and other public buildings causes a huge loss for the people of those islands. He expressed his hopes that the reconstruction of the building would begin soon.

In his speech, the President highlighted the infrastructure development needed in the islands of Maldives. He also said that the establishment of a sewerage system in Himmafushi would begin this year.
