Ambassador of the Germany accredited to the Maldives Dr Jürgen Morhard has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, President Waheed and Ambassador Morhard discussed the current political and economic situation of the Maldives. In this regard, President Waheed briefed the Ambassador on the austerity measures undertaken by the government to minimise the government expenditure.
Noting that climate change remains one of the most importance issues for the Maldives, President Waheed highlighted on the government endeavours in maintaining sustainable development in the renewable energy sector.
President Waheed further expressed hope and confidence that the Government will continue to receive the same level of support, engagement and assistance from Germany in the future.
