Canadian Special Envoy to the Commonwealth, Senator Hugh Segal has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
The President and Senator discussed the current political situation of the country. The President also briefed the senator on the on-going preparations for the upcoming presidential elections to be held in the Maldives.
President Waheed expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance received from the Commonwealth.
Senator Segal applauded the Maldives for being a symbol of modern Islamic democracy.
He further reassured President Waheed of Commonwealth’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives.
