Vice President Mohamed Waheed Deen has said that the celebration of Earth Hour was a step taken to preserve energy for our future generations. The Vice President made this remark before the inauguration of the Earth Hour celebrations in the Maldives. The Earth Hour celebration began with the switching off of the lights at the President’s Office by Vice President Waheed Deen at 8.30pm, Saturday evening.
In his speech, the Vice President appealed to all the people to support the cause and be part of the global movement. He also said that the government was committed to working with the people for the cause.
