President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today announced a plan to introduce a Presidential Postgraduate Research Fellowship. President made this statement while speaking at the function held at the Maldives National University to inaugurate the Postgraduate Research Centre and to launch the University’s Strategic Plan.
Speaking at the ceremony, President underlined the importance of establishing a Postgraduate Research Centre. He expressed hope that the 5-year strategic plan would stimulate development and success to the University.
President said that in addition to teaching knowledge, University must be a place to create knowledge. He also spoke of the need for knowledge and research for national development.
President urged to ensure the knowledge created does not contradict the principles of our country, religion, nationhood and culture.
Continuing in this regard, he said we should accord priority to invent Dhivehi words for technical terms used in research.
