President Dr Mohamed Waheed who is also the Chief Scout, presented Warrant of Appointment certificates to the scout youth council members. The function was held this morning at the President’s Office.
Speaking at the function, President Waheed congratulated the youth council members. He underscored the role the scout youth council could play in improving the social issues in the country. He, therefore, urged the council to take a leadership role in the fight against drug use.
President Waheed emphasized the importance of the scout movement. He said the scout values were an important contribution to help build a better society where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in the society.
He also called on the Education Ministry to help broaden the Scout movement in the Maldives and assured the government would give full support to the movement.
Vice President Mohamed Waheed Deen also attended the function.
