Ambassador of the United States accredited to the Maldives Ms Michele J. Sison has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, President Waheed expressed his gratitude to the US government for their continuous support and assistance to the Maldives. The President briefed the Ambassador on the progress of the work being done towards the Maldives’ becoming a biosphere reserve.
Further, the President highlighted the many budgetary challenges being faced by the government. However, the President assured that the government would continue to put in every effort to ensure uninterrupted public services to the people. He also noted that the government gives the most importance to maintaining peace and stability in the country.
