President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that there wouldn’t be any room for development in a place where there was no unity and peace. The President made this remark while speaking to the people of Bandidhoo of Dhaalu Atoll, as part of his visit to the island.
In his speech, President Waheed said that the proper upbringing of our children, and maintaining peace and harmony should be priorities for a nation. Speaking in this regard, the President said that we should always hold on to the Islamic values which include respecting our elders, obeying our parents, and being allies in the community.
Noting the high rise of familial conflict among us today, the President appealed to resort to discussion in solving our conflicts. He also said that those conflicts would in turn be what prevented development to the country, and called on everyone to give importance to strengthening the bonds among us.
On conclusion of his visit to Bandidhoo, the President visited Meedhoo of Dhaalu Atoll as the next part of his tour.
