Acting High Commissioner of Canada pays courtesy call on the President

Acting High Commissioner of Canada Mr Richard Bale has today paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed.

At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the President expressed his hopes for further strengthening the existing bilateral cooperation between the Maldives and Canada.

Highlighting the current political situation in the Maldives, the President reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding democracy, respecting the rule of law, and being transparent. He also spoke of his commitment to the National Unity Government, and to work together with everyone.

The President further spoke on the need to identify what was required to make the system of governance work in the Maldives. He also noted the importance of national level discussions among all stakeholders; political and non-political.
