New Ambassador of the United States of America accredited to the Maldives, Michele J. Sison presented her letter of credence to President Dr Mohamed Waheed this morning.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the credentials, the President congratulated Ambassador Sison, and welcomed her to the Maldives.
Meeting the new Ambassador afterwards, the President and the Ambassador discussed ways to further strengthen the close existing relations between the two countries. The President noted that America had always been a good friend of the Maldives, both in good and bad times.
President Waheed also shared with the Ambassador, the political and economic challenges being faced in the country, and briefed on the progress of the Leaders’ Dialogue being carried out among all political parties.
Ambassador Sison congratulated the President on convening the Leaders’ Dialogue, and assured that the Maldives and America would continue to share close working relations in the future.
