President Dr Mohamed Waheed today opened Dusit Thani Maldives resort in Mudhdhoo of Baa Atoll.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the President said that it was an honour for him to commemorate the opening of the first ever Dusit Thani resort in the Maldives, and extended his gratitude to Dusit International’s board of directors, stakeholders, investors.
The President said that Dusit International’s investment in the Maldives would not only be beneficial for the country’s economic gains, but that it would also increase job opportunities for local people for many years to come.
In his speech, President Waheed noted that tourism was the single largest contributor to the national economy today - representing 30% of GDP, and that the number of tourists visiting the Maldives was on the rise.
