President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of sympathy to the Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, following the fire outbreak at a shopping mall in Qatar.
The President’s message to Amir Al-Thani reads as follows.

It was with deep distress that I learned about the fierce fire outbreak at a shopping mall, which claimed the lives of many people together with 13 expatriate children.
While the people of Qatar mourn this immense tragedy, the Government and the people of Maldives join me in extending our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of Qatar.
Please convey our heartfelt commiseration to the injured victims and the bereaved families.
