Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today officially launched the Educational I-Radio. The Education I-Radio is an internet radio project conducted by the Ministry of Education, Commonwealth of Learning and Open University of Malaysia.
Education I-Radio enables teachers, students and parents to listen to educational programmes via internet.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the I-Radio this morning, Vice President Dr Waheed said that this was a milestone in the development of education in the Maldives.
Dr Waheed stressed that good quality programmes, and easy and affordable access to internet in all the islands of the Maldives were important factors for the success of this internet radio.
Concluding his speech, the Vice President thanked Commonwealth of Learning and the Open University of Malaysia for their important contribution to the Educational I-Radio in the Maldives.
President of Commonwealth of Learning Sir John Daniel, and President and Vice-Chancellor of Open University of Malaysia Tan Sri Professor Anwar Ali also spoke at the launching ceremony of the I-Radio.
