President Dr Mohamed Waheed has met with Mr Ranjan Mathai, Foreign Secretary of India this evening.
While appreciating India’s role in establishing peace and stability in the Maldives, President Waheed briefed the Foreign Secretary on the political developments in the Maldives.
Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai expressed support, and welcomed forward steps taken by the Maldivian government. The Foreign Secretary said that India hopes to find a “Maldives solution” for the situation. He further stated that India would always hope to see a peaceful and stable Maldives, and would provide its fullest cooperation and assistance in achieving such an environment in the Maldives. The Foreign Secretary assured that India’s bilateral assistance to the Maldives would continue unaffected.
