In his address to the people of Kulhudhuffushi this evening, President Dr Mohamed Waheed assured that, work would resume soon, on the government projects begun in Kulhudhuffushi. The President visited the island today, as the last leg of his current visit to some islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

Highlighting the projects already begun in Kulhudhuffushi, the President said that the government works at serving all the people equally.

Noting the recent reconstitution of the Board of Directors of Maldives Road Development Corporation Ltd, President Waheed expressed his hopes that the construction of the roads in Kulhudhuffushi would commence soon, and be carried out speedily, under the supervision of the board. He also assured the people that the construction work would be organized in a way that it would create more job opportunities for the people.

In his speech, President Waheed said that today he was in the office of the President of Maldives because the people elected him in 2008. At the meeting with the people of Kulhudhuffushi, the President also spoke on his experiences when he was a member of the MDP.

Referring to the events of 7 February, President Waheed said that there would not be a judiciary in the country if not for the events of that day. He also criticized the minority of MDP members who tried to stop the Police, who were courageously working for our religion and country.

In today’s speech too, the President reiterated that the earliest dates for an election would be July 2013, and that the constitution did not allow for elections to be held at an earlier date.
