President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today met with members of the Dhaalu atoll Vaani Island Council, and a representative delegation from Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi.
At two separate meetings held at the President’s Office this afternoon, President Waheed enquired on the well-being and concerns of the people of both islands.
On behalf of the Island Council, and the people of Dh. Vaani, council members expressed their gratitude to the President for the reform measures being taken in moving forward with the country.
Vaani council members also requested from the President, that families, who lost their homes in the 2004 tsunami, be provided better means of shelter or welfare benefits.
Representatives from Kulhudhuffushi voiced the people’s concerns over the major erosion problem faced in the island. They also informed the President the challenges faced in providing quality healthcare for the people, and the problems encountered at the H Dh. Atoll Education Centre, due to the lack of adequate space.
President Waheed assured that issues raised from both the Vaani Council, and Kulhudhuffushi delegations would be looked into, and necessary measures would be taken.
