Under the direct supervision of President Dr Mohamed Waheed, cabinet ministers are currently looking in to the tsunami warning issued by the Department of Meteorology, following the earthquake that struck Indonesia this afternoon.
The President convened the cabinet this afternoon, and inquired on the risk management measures as well as mechanisms for providing timely information to the people, by the National Disaster Management Center and the Department of Meteorology. The cabinet is also gathering information from different regions of the country.
Although minor tremors from the earthquake that hit Indonesia were felt across the country, no damages have been reported.
