Members of Kaafu Atoll Council and Island Councils have today met with President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held at the President’s Office.

At the meeting, council members briefed the President on the major problems faced in the islands, and the people’s concerns. The council members also detailed the areas in which the islands have been neglected in the past three years.

Highlighting the measures being taken by the government in strengthening the quality of services provided by the government, the President reassured that those services will continue. He also said that restoring peace in the country, and bringing the people together was the government’s highest priority.

President Waheed assured the council members that their issues would be looked into, and necessary measures would be taken. The President reiterated his commitment to treat everyone equal, despite the political party they belonged to.
