South Korean Ambassador Jongmoon Choi has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
Speaking at the meeting, President Waheed briefed the Ambassador on the measures taken by the government to calm the political situation in the Maldives. He stated that he would “preserve the democratic achievements we have made”. He also said he was open for an early election but that it could only be done within the bounds of the Constitution.
Ambassador Choi congratulated the President on his assumption of office and welcomed the President’s efforts to resolve the political situation.
The President and the Ambassador also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and explored possibilities of enhancing those relations in the areas of tourism, climate change and information technology.
