The Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives Nobuhito Hobo has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
Speaking at the meeting, President Waheed expressed solidarity with the people of Japan on the occasion of the first anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last year. He especially noted the remarkable speed of recovery in Japan, stating that the world could learn many lessons in disaster management, from Japan.
President Waheed also briefed the Ambassador on the current political situation in the Maldives. He said his top priority was to restore peace and stability in the country.
Ambassador Hobo welcomed the President’s efforts to resolve the political situation and emphasized the importance of dialogue.
