President Dr Mohamed Waheed has urged school principals, supervisors and teachers to refrain from politicising the education system. He also appealed to them stay away from getting caught up in politics. He made this appeal while addressing the people of Narudhoo on Friday morning.
In his speech, the President said school management should focus on instilling Islamic values, love for the nation, and friendship and cooperation among the students.
He expressed concern about unacceptable behaviour that students are now having to experience in their community. He said school premises should not allow such behaviour.
On improving the quality of education, he said the government would closely monitor the performance of educators.
Later on Friday, the President arrived in Maroshi. He is scheduled to address the people of the island on Friday.
