Addressing the people of Feevah of Shaviyani atoll, President Dr Mohamed Waheed has reaffirmed his commitment to take all necessary measures to protect and safeguard the people.
Speaking in this regard, the President said his administration would not make arbitrary arrests and that due process would be followed.
“We will not arrest anyone for having a different opinion”, said the President.
He added:
“We will uphold the Constitution and work within laws and regulations”.
In his speech, the President also said his government would work closely with the people in achieving their goals and aspirations. In this regard, he said his administration would work towards establishing proper sewerage systems in some of the islands through state budget and also through foreign assistance.
