Foreign Secretary Mr Ranjan Mathai of India today called on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held at the President’s Office this afternoon.
Discussions at the meeting were held on the country’s current political situation.
The Foreign Secretary said he met with the leaders of major political parties, as suggested by the President. He also briefed the President on the discussions he had with them.
Mr Mathai further stressed the importance of peaceful dialogues between the parties in resolving political conflicts in the country. Foreign Secretary Mathai further assured Indian government’s assistance in the Maldives moving forward peacefully and constitutionally.
At the meeting, President Waheed expressed his gratitude to the Indian government, and welcomed India’s support in helping the country move forward.
