At a function held last evening to mark this year’s Poets’ Day, President Mohamed Nasheed launched four poetry books. The four books that were launced are: a translated book of Indian High Commissioner Mullay, a poetry book compiled by ‘Liyuntheringe Gulhun, a compilation of Abdul Rasheed Hussain’s poetry and a poetry book by Dhivehi Language Academy. High Commissioner Mullay’s poems were translated by Abdulla Sodiq and Habeeba Hussain Habeb.

Speaking at the function, President noted the importance of celebrating Poets’ Day. He said the main purpose of marking this day was to celebrate Maldivian poets and to promote the art. He added that the main objective of poets was to spread the beauty and happiness involved in poetry.
