President Mohamed Nasheed has sent a message of sympathy to President Pratibha Patil of India, following the loss of lives caused by the fire outbreak at AMRI hospital of Kolkata.

It was with deep shock and grief that I learned about the fire outbreak at AMRI hospital in Kolkata, which claimed the lives of many people and caused injury to many more.
While the people India mourn this tragedy, the Government and the people of Maldives join me in sending our profound sympathy and our sincere condolences, especially to the members of the bereaved families.
