At a function held to confer National Awards on occasion of the Republic Day, President Mohamed Nasheed has that none of us should succumb to blindly following others or simply listening to any opinion voiced out.
In this regard he said we must have a broad mind, keep faith and have courage in appraising the value of, and appropriating a response for the sights and sounds experienced during our lifetime.
Reflecting on the achievements of tonight’s National Awards winners, President Nasheed said the achievements of our nation’s progeny must be colourfully celebrated. Additionally, the President expressed happiness over the levels of contributive and participatory efforts of those who rendered their services to the nation this year, and commended their exemplary efforts to be a building pillar of our national identity.He added this year’s winners achieved recognition due to their strong and unshakable beliefs.
He also emphasised that the government has sought to realize the special reasons in developing a nationality. He added that development could not be brought without specific contributions, and it is important that those who put the nation on the path towards development, are recognised and given the credit they deserve.
