President Mohamed Nasheed has this evening, presented National Award of Honour and National Award of Recognition. The awards were given at the official function held at Dharubaaruge, on the occasion of this year’s Republic Day.
Recipients of Award of Honour received a shield of honour, a badge of honour and a commemorative plaque, while the recipients of Award of Recognition received a commemorative plaque and a certificate.
Two individuals received National Award of Honour this year; Mr. Mohamed Yoosuf for his contribution in the area of education, and Mr. Mohamed Ismail Fulhu for his contribution to creating health awareness and health education, in the area of health.
Recipients of National Award of Recognition are:
- Mr Mohamed Nasheed in the area of Dhivehi literature (oratory skills)
- Dr. Ahmed Anwar in the area of education
- Mr. Ali Rasheed in the area of health (traditional medicine)
- Uz. Husnu Su’ood in the area of legal service
- Prof. Hassan Uqail in the area of innovation
- Mr. Mohamed Ali Fulhu in the area of arts and crafts (boat building)
- Mr. Abdul Haris Haaroon in the area of arts and crafts (boat building)
- Mr. Abdul Rahman Moosa in the area of arts and crafts (lacquer work)
- Mr. Abdul Hameed Abdul Ghafoor in the area of sports
- Mr. Abdulla Amir in the area of sports
- Ms. Rafiath Rameeza in the area of performing arts (singing)
- Ms. Niuma Mohamed in the area of performing arts (feature film and drama acting)
- Mr. Jadulla Ismail in the area of applied arts (fashion designing)
- Prop Pvt. Ltd. in the area of construction
Rafiath Rameeza, who received the Award of Recognition in the area of performing arts, presented a song of gratitude at the ceremony, on behalf of recipients of the awards.
