President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the key role of the Maldivian National Football Team in SAFF Championship, is not only to work towards a victory, but to endorse the development of national pride through heightening the spirit of the nation.
The President made this statement while speaking during a ceremony held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel last evening, to announce the players of the National Football Squad participating in this year’s SAFF Championship.
During his speech, the President highlighted that development of national pride could not be achieved unless the development of sports was promoted.
The President further emphasized that success to a superior performance lies in fully preparing and strategising beforehand. The President also encouraged the National Football Squad to learn from their previous experiences, and to work with dedication towards achieving a coveted victory.
