New Ambassador of Japan accredited to the Maldives, Nobuhito Hobo has presented his Letter of Credence to President Mohamed Nasheed today.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon, the President congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador and discussed with the Ambassador, ways to further strengthen the close bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Nasheed noted the many areas of development, in which the Japanese Government continue to assist the Maldives, and expressed his gratitude for their contribution in the Maldives’ graduation from the status of least developed country to middle-income status.
At the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the President for the post tsunami aid provided to Japan from the Maldives, following the tsunami that hit Japan earlier this year.
