Vice Minister of Internal Affairs and Communication of Japan, Takashi Morita, has today paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the Vice Minister expressed his gratitude for post tsunami aid provided to Japan from the Maldives’. He also noted the necessity to develope solar energy power systems, and briefed the President on a number of works being undertaken in the development of such systems, in Japan.
President Nasheed conveyed his appreciation to the Japanese government for their contribution in the different areas of development in the Maldives. Further, the President noted that the Japanese would be an observer at the 17th SAARC Summit, and expressed his gratitude for Japan’s many contributions to the South Asian Development Funds.
