New Ambassador of China accredited to the Maldives, Yu Hongyao has presented his Letter of Credence to President Mohamed Nasheed today.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning, the President congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador and discussed with the Ambassador, ways to further strengthen the long-established bilateral relations between both countries.
The Ambassador noted the increase in numbers of Chinese tourists visiting Maldives, and the Chinese entrepreneurs’ interest in investing in the Maldives.
President Nasheed stated that the Chinese government’s policies taken on issues of the environment and climate change were very encouraging. He also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for their assistance provided in the preparations of the SAARC Summit, and in other areas of development in the country.
