President Mohamed Nasheed has announced the establishment of 10 Junior High Schools in different regions of the country. The President made this remark highlighting the government’s plans to standardise the education system of the country at this year’s Prize day function of Ken’dhikulhudhoo School.

Speaking at the ceremony held in Noonu Ken’dhikulhudhoo, President Nasheed spoke on the many facilities to be provided at each junior high school, including dormitory facilities for the students. The President also pointed out that one of the schools would be instituted in Ken’dhikulhudhoo, and that certificate and diploma level education would be provided at the schools, along with 11th and 12th grades.

President Nasheed also noted that the government was working to expand all the schools in the country to work as single-session schools, highlighting the government’s goal to ensure at least 60 percent of students who enter GCE Ordinary Examinations in the country passed minimum 5 subjects.
