President Mohamed Nasheed has departed on an official visit to France today.
During the visit, President Nasheed will hold talks with French Environment Minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet and French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé.
During his visit, the President will also hold discussions on bi-lateral French aid and official assistance programmes to the Maldives.
While on visit, President Nasheed will meet with senior management of Agence Française de Développement (AFD) a French international development agency, to discuss development and financial assistance in terms of access to water and sanitation.
Speaking to press before departure, the President shared his views on government efforts and experiences to promote economic growth and sustainable development.
Speaking to press, the President also spoke on government incentives to sustain traditional tourism and promote the growth of a mid-market tourism sector. The President further highlighted on progress made for delivery of a successful SAARC Summit.
