US Ambassador to the Maldives Patricia Butenis has today announced a water supply infrastructure to be established in Dhidhdhoo of Haa Alif atoll and Hinnavaru of Lhaviyani atoll. Ambassador Butenis announced this project at a press conference held at the President’s Office this afternoon, following her courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed.
At the press conference, the ambassador briefed on the 7.5 M Dollar project to be developed under the aid of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which would enable the supply of water to households in both islands, via integrated water resources management.
Speaking at the press conference, President Nasheed expressed his gratitude to the American government for their continuous aid provided to the people of Maldives. He especially thanked ambassador Butenis for the establishment of the water supply system at such a crucial time.
