Indian National Security Advisor pays Courtesy Call on the President

National Security Advisor of India Shivshankar Menon has today paid a courtesy call on President Mohamed Nasheed.

At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the President expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for their assistance provided in the preparations for this year’s SAARC Summit to be held in the Maldives. The officials also discussed compiling a Climate Change Declaration at the SAARC Summit.

President Nasheed and the National Security Advisor also exchanged ideas on the security measures to be taken for the safety of the Indian Ocean, and highlighted the Indian Ocean Cooperation’s role in controlling and decreasing the rates of piracy and illegal fishing in the Indian Ocean.
