President Mohamed Nasheed has said that his current visit to Seychelles will help in further strengthening of ties between the Maldives and Seychelles, and at the same time greatly benefit the country and the people in many ways.

In this week’s radio address, given from Praslin Island of Seychelles, the President noted that studying the economic and fiscal reform system of Seychelles would be advantageous in executing the economic reform plans of the Maldives. Further, President Nasheed added that his visit would allow in recognising the service sectors, including deep-sea fishing and tourism industries, where both the governments of the Maldives and Seychelles could work together.

In his radio address, the President commended the Maldivian national football team for their performance in yesterday’s football match against Mauritius, at the Indian Ocean Island Games. He also conveyed his optimism towards a competent performance by the Maldivian teams taking part in other sports events.

Apart from football, the Maldives is participating in basketball, volleyball and badminton events, at this year’s Indian Ocean Island Games.
